Fabrics for New Zealand Conditions
Textile signs are light-weight and easy to move yet eye-catching and hard wearing, making them perfect for point of sale displays, exhibitions and events. Don’t just settle for any fabric sign. Textiles Alive use only fabrics suitable for New Zealand conditions and match the fabric carefully to the purpose so that your sign will print professionally, hang gracefully and last the distance.
Outdoor Fabric Options
For outdoor use Textiles Alive choose dyes with built-in UV protection. Block-out materials are used when show-through is to be eliminated and the weight of the fabric is matched to the product purpose.
PolySilk suitable indoor and outdoor. Opaque fabric. 53gsm. Very popular choice - superb for printing detailed images (Double Gold Award winning fabric choice – Pride in Print 2007 & 2008). Provides over 90% strike through to the reverse side. Ideal for Custom flags & Corporate flags which fly during business hours. Used on Neptune, Sharkfin and Cosmic flags, and many custom indoor displays. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Medium grade PolyWeave - our traditional flag fabric. 80gsm.Provides about 85% strike through to the reverse side. Suitable for flags which are not exposed to winds 24hours a day. Ideal for Custom flags & Corporate flags which fly during business hours. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Premium Lock-knit polyester. 125gsm. Direct digitally printed on by TexPress, best strength available for flag fabric, manufactured in New Zealand. Used on WindBlade flags. Almost 100% strike though to reverse side. As this is a flag fabric, the print detail is not quite as fine as the dye-sublimation process, but still a fantastic result for Street flags and corporate flags. The only suitable option for Street Flags, or flags which are intended to be up for 24 hours. (Unfinished maximum print width 1800mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Block-out - 250gsm block out fabric. Printable on one-side or both sides simultaneously if required. Often used as retail hanging banners where correct reading text is required to be read from both sides. Fabric is slightly grey due to block-out layer. Suitable for WindBlades and Cosmic. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Indoor Fabric Options
You are spoilt for choice with the indoor fabric range from Textiles Alive. Choose something light and flowing or strong and crisp, depending on your needs. You can even go for a fabric from the outdoor range if it suits your purpose better. Ask for a sample pack to get a real feel for your choices.
Organza fabric. Almost transparent, with a vaporous image. Suitable for window dressings - curtains. Very light, and for indoor use only. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Voile fabric. Semi-transparent. Suitable for window dressings – curtains and banners. Indoor only. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).

Matt indoor fabric. Provides superb ‘depth’. 200gsm. Option for Pull Up displays & Gallery Walls. Used on many custom indoor displays – popular choice for Events and Tradeshows. Doesn’t crease as easily as Satin or PolyBanner. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for salvage and hemming).
Medium grade Polyknit – our traditional flag fabric. Provides about 85% strike through to the reverse side. Suitable for flags which are not exposed to winds 24hours a day. Ideal for Custom flags & Corporate flags which fly during business hours. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Satin indoor fabric. 200gsm. Fantastic for dye-sub printing - great for indoor banners, Pull Up displays and Gallery Walls. Used on many custom indoor displays – popular choice for Events and Tradeshows. Can crease or be ‘crushed’ slightly more than Matt. Best stored and transported on a roll. (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).
Premium Lycra stretch fabric. 190gsm. Used for Instant Ad Walls, ideal for stretching over frames (non-crease fabric option). (Unfinished maximum print width is 1500mm – please allow for selvage and hemming).

Garment Fabrics

Finishing Options
All Textiles Alive products have quality finishes like sewn or heat-sealed edges and reinforcement around corner eyelets, Velcro or cords as required. For your convenience you can choose your flag and banner finish to suit your hanging preferences.
Flag Finishing Options
Your flag may be fitted for attachment with sister clips, a rope and toggle system or a rope through a reinforced 500mm canvas edge. Standard hems are 15mm and are double stitched.

To achieve the perfect result you need high quality, correctly formatted artwork. Please take care to follow the file specification guidelines when preparing your artwork and be sure to send a hard colour-copy of your jpg proof with your artwork.
